Nicholas Warren BA (hons)

Nicholas has been Managing Director since January 2009; having held various roles within the company since 2000 he has solid understanding of both the business and the customer base. Nicholas is a Business Management graduate with interests in Engineering, Travel and Mobile Technology. He's a Freeman of the City of London, and Liveryman of the Worshipful Society of Shipwrights.
Since taking on the Managing Directors role Nicholas has formalised key strategic partnerships with BAE Systems, Incat Australia, MAN Diesel & Turbo and the Port of Cherbourg. He has sought stable commercial growth, and increased standards of professionalism and accreditation across the company's core activities. Nicholas's primary function remains sales; seeking both National and International growth in key, core markets, and focusing resources on serving and maintaining existing client relationships.
Ray Cutts

Contact Ray
Ray is the technical lead in the business and has a vast amount of experience in both mechanical and structural marine engineering and was the Burgess Marine Project Manager on ‘Manannan’, the world’s largest ever fast ferry conversion. Ray has an unprecedented level of ship repair and refit experience and has personally managed over one hundred dry dockings on a combination of High Speed Craft, Ro-Pax vessels, Superyachts and Warships.
Ray is widely regarded as an industry expert and has travelled the globe on behalf of Burgess Marine providing engineering consultancy services, more often than not including complex solutions to engineering problems, on almost every Continent of the world.
Adrian Coyne FCCA

Contact Adrian
Adrian is an accountancy graduate and has been a fully qualified accountant and financial auditor since 1991; he is also a fellow of the institute of Chartered Accountants. Adrian’s involvement with the ‘Burgess’ name began in 1996 when he joined Burgess Marine’s legacy business, Burgess Engineering.
Adrian is responsible for directing and overseeing all the financial activities of Burgess Marine and his primary responsibilities include strategic and financial planning, banking as well as the financing and control of major projects.
Nick Jalie

Contact Nick
Nick came to Burgess Marine in 2006 having left his position of Engineering Manager at Condor Ferries. He is a qualified Chief Engineer and has a wealth of knowledge in both mechanical and structural engineering having managed countless ship refits over the last decade. Since joining Burgess Marine Nick has helped to develop key relationships with BAE Systems and the Ministry of Defence through the locale of Burgess Marine’s Portsmouth site within HM Naval Base Portsmouth.
Nick has also maintained a strong relationship with his former employers and manages, in partnership with BAE Systems, the annual dry dockings on behalf of Burgess Marine for the Condor Ferries fleet of High Speed Craft. Nick has in excess of thirty years experience in marine engineering having began his apprenticeship in 1980.
John Rennardson

John Rennardson began his career as a Welder/Fabricator, at the age of 25 he started his own company in Hythe, Southampton specialising in stainless steel and aluminium fabrications, this later progressed to incorporate Ship repair (MOD, Commercial and Superyachts) Petro chemicals and Prototype products.
In more recent years John, as founder of Hythe Marine Services has been involved with many blue chip companies around the world giving his technical expertise and many years of experience to an ever changing industry, always keen to bring new techniques to the work place John is both progressive and innovative, with an impressive list of contacts worldwide John is keen to bring his varied expertise to Burgess Marine.
Laurie Candy

Contact Laurie
Laurie has been with Burgess Marine since its inception; he's an experienced Marine Manager with an excellent understating of both fabrication and general marine fitting. His primary remit is the support of the company's key Short Sea customers; DFDS (formerly Norfolkline), P&O Ferries and SeaFrance. Laurie is based in Dover and such is the first point of contact for Ferry Operators from the Port of Dover, the Port of Dover itself, and all associated marine operations.
John Webb

Contact John
John is responsible for managing all diving operations carried out by Burgess Marine as well as being a conventional Technical Manager skilled in both mechanical and structural marine engineering. John began his career with a mechanical engineering aprenticeship before moving into the diving industry where he became well versed in both diving and underwater engineering techniques. He joined Burgess Marine in 1997 initially just being involved in diving works, however, his broad skills set soon meant he became involved in the Technical Management of other mechanical and structural marine engineering works hence he has overseen large structural fabrication of marine structures such as pontoons and he has also managed numerous dry dockings of high speed craft and conventional vessels.
Tony Gabriel

Tony returned to Burgess Marine in 2011 having formerly worked for the legacy business, Burgess Engineering. He is an experienced workshop manager and is well versed in the management and production of steelwork structures and fabrication having come from a welding background. Tony is responsible for the day to day running of Burgess Marine's Dover workshop, working closely with the rest of the management team he ensures that personnel, plant and equipment are best utilised in accordance with customer requirements.
Peter Warren BA, GradIOSH, DipNEBOSH, MIIRSM, AIEMA

Peter is a business management graduate and has worked for Burgess Marine since 2009 having formerly worked for both Burgess Marine and Burgess Rail. Peter joined the business on a full time basis and has developed and established a quality management system that has achieved ISO 9001:2008 accreditation with the British Standards Institute, undoubtedly this was expedited through Peter's experience as an ISO 9001 auditor. Peter is a safety professional and is pursuing Chartered Membership (he is currently a Graduate Member) to the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health having recently completed the NEBOSH Diploma, he is also a full member of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) and an associate member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).
Simon Sewell

Contact Simon
Simon is an experienced Yachtsman and Commerical Manager. He's been in the marine industry for over 25 years and has good understanding of both the Commerical Marine and Superyacht industries. Simon's Business Development role has covered both aforementioned sectors, and his ‘hands-on' approach has enabled the company, on numerous occasion, to assist new projects with both site management and infrastructure support.
Simon is the company's primary interface with the Superyacht industry; as of 2011 Burgess Marines extensively supports Pendennis, Southampton Yacht Services, Hamble Yacht Services and two large (65m & 44m), bespoke Superyacht refits projects in Southampton and Portchester.
