Strategic Partners

Burgess Marine has formed three key strategic partnerships; by developing mutually beneficial support relationships with Incat, BAE Systems - Surface Ships Support (formerly BVT Surface Fleet) and MAN B&W Diesel the business has created solid foundations for high quality end user customer service, and structured, stable growth.

Incat: www.incat.com.au

Incat Australia Pty Ltd, based in Tasmania, manufactures Aluminium Fast Ferries up to 112m in length. Burgess Marine teams have trained in Hobart and now the business not only supports Incat directly, it also supports Incat owned vessels in-service, and all other operators of Incat vessels across the globe.

Burgess Marine's Technical Management consistently liaise directly with all functions within Incat; including design, operations, ship management and sales. This fluid communication channel has ensured that the end user benefits from timely, cost effective in-service support. This relationship encompasses not only structural fabrication but also mechanical engineering.

BAE Systems - Surface Ships Support: www.baesystems.com

BAE Systems, based in Portsmouth, operates the South Coasts most advanced naval support and dry dock facility. Burgess Marine works closely with BAE Systems assisting their commercial dry dockings in the UK Fast Ferry industry.

In addition to the existing partnership both businesses are working together to drive more commercial dockings to Portsmouth, and increase the local skill sets to include Aluminium Structural Fabricators and Mechanical Engineers capable of working on both medium and high speed diesel engines.

Burgess Marine has supported BAE Systems closely with regard to works on ‘grey ships’, Antarctic Survey vessels, and participated in numerous joint bids including traditional tonnage and Ministry of Defence works.

MAN B&W Diesel: www.manbw.com

MAN B&W Diesel Ltd operate at the forefront of low, medium and high speed marine diesel engines. Burgess Marine supports MAN B&W both in the UK and internationally with regards to the supply of skilled labour and immediate emergency response support for mutual existing customers.

Burgess Marine has strong commercial links to MAN B&W and each business in turn supports the other. Burgess Marine has access to MAN B&W spare parts and will only overhaul key engine components using genuine MAN B&W replacement parts.

Many Burgess Marine staff are technically trained to MAN B&W standards. With MAN B&W the business intends to develop a partnership to ensure MAN B&W units are operated and maintained correctly, efficiently and within both the operators cost constraints and the manufacturer's guidelines.
